G. Timothy Petito, OD, FAAO

Dr. G. Timothy Petito is an internationally known author and lecturer in various topics relating to ocular care. Dr. Petito has published several books and numerous articles in national publications and still serves in editorial positions. He has been in practice in St Petersburg for 19 years. Dr. Petito provides Low Vision services in not only Pinellas county but also Hillsborough and Polk counties. To serve the Low Vision patient population, he maintains offices at the Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind in Tampa and Winterhaven. In his private practice, Dr. Petito specializes not only in Low Vision but also in “hard to fit” contact lenses patients. He obtained his BS degree from Michigan State University, and his Doctor of Optometry from Ferris State University. Following the completion of his doctorate degree, Dr. Petito completed a residency in Pediatric Vision and Vision Training. Dr. Petito went on to become an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York and the Co-Chief of the Primary Care Services at the Optometric Center of New York. He was a research scientist at Columbia University, and staff optometrist at the New York Eye and Ear Hospital.
